Refund Policy
1. All Applications for refunds must be in writing and addressed to:
The Executive Manager,
within 90 days of the last day of attendance at a Department of Education School, College or Academy.
2. This refund agreement does not remove the right to take further action under Australia’s consumer protection laws.
3. Government Education and Training International’s dispute resolution processes do not circumscribe the student’s right to pursue other legal remedies.
4. Government Education and Training International will refund all tuition fees if it is unable to provide the course agreed in the letter of offer. This refund will be paid within two weeks of the scheduled commencement date of the course.
5. Refunds where the student decides to withdraw from the course, will be paid within four weeks of receipt of the written request for a refund.
6. Homestay fees will be refunded on a pro-rata basis if a student moves into independent accommodation, or if a student withdraws from a course. The student’s parent must make a written request to the Manager, Government Education and Training International, for a refund of homestay fees.
7. Refunds of tuition and homestay fees will be paid to the parents unless the parents request in writing that the refund be paid to the student.
Refunds for students on Student Visas
8. Government Education and Training International will refund all tuition fees, less AUD $300 administration charges, if an applicant is not granted a Student Visa by the Australian Government authorities. A copy of the visa refusal letter must be provided.
9. If a student rejects the offer of a place after paying the tuition fees and being issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment, 20% of the annual fee will be withheld.
10. If a student commences their course after the contracted course start date, but less than 10 weeks after the contracted date, due to delays in obtaining a student visa, or for other reasons, there will be no refund for the period between the contracted course start date and the actual start date.
11. Where the actual start date is more than 10 weeks after the contracted course start date, and the cause of the delay is a result of delays in obtaining a student visa, the Manager, Government Education and Training International may approve a refund of 50% of the tuition fees that apply to the period of the course not attended.
12. If a student withdraws from a course within the first three weeks of attendance, 50% of the annual tuition fee will be withheld to cover administration and school enrolment costs.
13. If a student withdraws from a course three weeks or more after commencement of his/her classes, a refund of 50% of the fees allocated to the remaining portion of the year will be refunded. A refund will not be paid for terms already commenced prior to withdrawal.
14. If a student’s Visa is cancelled because of non-compliance with student visa conditions, or the enrolment is terminated because of non-compliance with the conditions of enrolment, or with Government Education and Training International rules, no refund of tuition fees is payable.
15. Government Education and Training International will refund fees in exceptional circumstances or on compassionate grounds as determined by the Manager, Government Education and Training International.
Refunds for students with visas other than student visas (course duration less than 12 weeks)
16. If a student rejects the offer of a place in a short course after paying tuition fees, but before commencing, 50% of the course tuition fee will be withheld.
17. If a student withdraws from a short course after commencement, a refund will not be provided unless exceptional circumstances exist as determined by the Manager, Government Education and Training International.
