TAFE Tasmania - Launceston English Language Centre
Launceston
TAFE English Language Centres offer general English language tuition in reading, writing, speaking and listening and will provide students with a solid understanding of English usage in everyday, formal, work and academic situations. With flexible start dates during term times and a nationally accredited curriculum students can gain the language skills needed for direct entry into TAFE Tasmania courses or for working holiday makers or for those individuals who just want to further develop their understanding of English.
Lessons are structured to meet the students' English needs of living and travelling in Australia and going on to further study. A variety of teaching and learning styles is encouraged, with classrooms, computer labs, libraries and excursions all used to maximise students' opportunities to practice and develop their English.
Students can study up to a maximum of 25 hours per week involving a mixture of morning and afternoon classes. The afternoon classes are for international students only while the morning classes will involve learning with other people from a diverse range of countries and cultures including Asia, Africa and Europe. Furthermore, monthly excursions are great fun and an excellent way to practice English. The excursions involve visiting local attractions such as historic townships, wildlife centres and even chocolate and cheese factories.
The English Language Centre in Launceston has been recently renovated. Classrooms are bright and relaxed and the centre is very close to the main TAFE Launceston campus. There is access to computers at both the centre and the main campus that have multi-language capability.
